Inspiring people: WALLIS SIMPSON, Duchess of Windsor

"I´m not a beautiful woman. I am nothing to look at,
so the only thing I can do is dress better than anyone else."

Wallis Simpson is one of the personas I am looking up to. She was a woman that even costed the British king his throne because she was a divorced American. She must have had a great charm because when we look at the period photographs she is not a woman of great beauty. Her garments and jewells (and her wit) were her weapon and she became known for her sense of fashion and elegance, she was even considered the best dressed woman at the time. She was a fan of haute couture and therefore she was promoting the quote: "If you can afford it, then there is no pleasure in buying it." Among her favourites belonged Dior, Givenchy, Schiaparelli, Mainbocher or jeweler Cartier.
