Trip on bikes to Chlum lookout tower

I enjoyed a bit of rest after the lunch and then off we go! It is a beautiful day outside and we decided to go on a biking trip. Our destination is the lookout tower Chlum, so the track will be a bit more up the hill than usual. But I am still looking forward to it, I haven´t been there yet, or it was so far in the past that I don´t remember. After all it would be a bit longer trip if we went there on foot, on the bike it is a lot closer.

We are biking on a well known track but then we don´t turn right as always but continue riding straight ahead. "Don´t go too fast here, use brakes," Y warns me at the start of an innocent looking path that ends somewhere in the bushes. The ride is ok at first but then I quickly start using the rear brake, hoping I won´t crack its handle. I am too afraid to use the front brake… luckily I survive without crashing. Y then shows me the place his knee remembers very well, ouch. The ride downhill was fine, but we will have to go uphill here later on, right? Something I am not looking forward to.

We continue our trip and suddenly a wonderfully photogenic place is in front of us - a field with rectangular hay bales. My heart exults with delight. It is a pity that it is quite far away, otherwise I would return someday for a photoshoot with a dress… After a while our track starts ascending again. Slowly at the beginning, then I give up and just walk with the bike on my side. I am not ashamed to admit it. I know that for some cyclists it is a disgrace, but I don´t bike because of sport and kilometres, I bike because I like to see the nature around me.

The lookout tower Chlum is opened so we climb up to look at the horizonts around us. There used to be a tavern, but it is long gone. You can still see its foundations in the ground, here and there there are remains of the floor made of tiles. When we saw enough and rested enough on the banks under the tower we bike back. On the way downhill I am braking like crazy, I even start using the front brake :D

On the way back I once again admire the photogenic hay bales and later on the game park with fallow deer. I knew fallow deer used to be there, then they moved them somewhere for the summer and now I find out they are back. They have beautiful eyes. Then the mosquitos start biting me so we get away. Oops, I chip off the reflector on my pedal when going on stairs to the house, well, hopefully a bit of superglue will solve this, at least for a while. A well deserved shower after the trip follows, and also a Weissbier from the fridge and also the Kolonáda waffles (this time those from Marienbad).

Po obědě jsem si trochu odfrkla, ale teď už vzhůru ven. Je krásný den, což jsme se rozhodli využít a vyrážíme na výlet na kolech. Náš cíl je rozhledna na Chlumu, bude to tedy tak trochu víc do kopce než obvykle. Stejně se ale těším, protože jsem tam ještě nebyla, anebo hodně dávno, takže si na to už nevzpomínám. Přeci jen, pěšky už by to byl celkem větší výlet, ale na kole je to kousek.

Vyrážíme po známé trase, ale pak nezahneme doprava, ale pokračujeme rovně. "Tady si to nenech rozjet, brzdi," varuje mě Y před nevinně se tvářící cestičkou dolů, která mizí v křoví. Nejdřív v klidu, ale pak už brzdím jako blázen, snad tu páčku nekřupnu. Bojím se zapojit i přední brzdu... naštěstí sjezd ustojím bez karambolu. Dole mi Y ukazuje místo, na které vzpomíná jeho koleno, au. Cesta dolů byla ok, ale na výšlap cestou zpátky se tedy netěším.

Pokračujeme v cestě a otvírá se před námi fotogenické čerstvě posekané pole s hranatými balíky. Mé srdce při pohledu na ně plesá. Škoda, že už je to celkem daleko, jinak bych se sem třebas vrátila na nějaké focení v šatech... Za chvíli nám ale začíná stoupání. Nejdříve pozvolné, pak už to vzdávám a jdu po svých a kolo vedu. Nestydím se to přiznat. Vím, že někteří by to brali jako porážku, ale já nejezdím na kole kvůli sportu a kilometrům, jezdím pro potěšení z krajiny kolem.

Rozhledna na Chlumu je otevřená, tak se můžeme i rozhlédnout po okolí. Dříve tu byl i hostinec, ale ten už je dávno pryč. Jeho obrysy lze vytušit z ponechaných základů v zemi, někde lze vidět i zbytky podlahy z kachliček. Když se nabažíme výhledu a chvíli si odpočneme na lavičkách dole, vyrážíme zpět. Cestou dolů opět brzdím jako divá, tentokrát už radši i tou přední brzdou :D

Cestou zpět se opět rozplývám nad fotogenickými balíky a později i nad oborou s daňky. Bývali tu už dříve, ale na léto je odstěhovali a právě zjišťuji, že jsou zpět. Mají nádherné oči. Pak už mě ale začínají žrát komáři a tak se klidíme pryč. Oops o schod u vchodu do domu si odštípnu odrazku na šlapce, no, trocha vteřinového lepidla to snad na nějakou dobu spraví. Zasloužená sprcha na závěr, a také pšeničné pivko z ledničky, a také kolonády (tentokrát ty Mariánskolázeňské).
