Looking at the photos from fashion weeks and the street style photos from FW I see an emerging trend. Even Vogue UK wrote a story on it in March 2017 issue (page 167). What am I talking about? Big statement earrings are getting fashionable once again and I am totally hopping on this bandwagon.
Když se koukám na fotky z fashion weeků a ze streetstylových fotek z FW, zdá se mi, že vidím přicházet nový trend. Dokonce i britské Vogue už o tom psalo v březnovém čísle (strana 167). O čem mluvím? O velkých náušnicích, které se opět dostávají do módy a já jsem z toho nadšená.
When I pierced my ears as a teen I did it to be able to wear quite big dangly earrings. Years after I started to wear smaller ones, 1950s retro ispired, but now I am sensing I need a change once again and I tend to choose the bigger pieces in my box with earrings. I have been actually craving even bigger ones that I do not own yet but am certainly going to do some DIY. You know, I feel I need the 1960s vibe that comes with macromé accessories. I have already looked up some amazing tutorials on YouTube and as soon as I have the opportunity I will run to the local DIY shop to buy some nylon threads.
Když jsem si jako náctiletá nechala propíchnout uši, šla jsem do toho, abych mohla nosoit dlouhé náušnice. Léta na to jsem si oblíbila spíše menší, inspirované 50. léty, ale teď mám pocit, že si ze šperkovnice, kde skladuji své náušnice, vybírám opt větší kusy. Dokonce toužím po ještě větších, které ještě nemám, ale brzy si udělám nějaké DIY. Víte, zhlédla jsem se ve stylu 60. let, kdy se nosily drhané doplňky. Už jsem si našla pár skvělých tutoriálů na YouTube a jsem natěšená, až budu moci zaběhnout do místního kutilského obchodu, abych si nakoupila nylonové šňůrky.
Macromé was quite popular in the Czech Republic during the communist era, accessories were created, bags and household decorations. Some of these creations had a questionable taste, some would look better in colours etc. but back then there were not many supplies to choose from and people were desperate to create something original for themselves. But back to the earrings - the real plus I can see in the macromé earrings is that they could be quite big but they will not be that heavy so it will be possible to really wear them all day long without taking them off ad putting them in a handbag, which I have to do sometimes.
Drhání bylo v České republice docela oblíbené za komunismu. Tvořily se doplňky, tašky i dekorace do domácnosti. Některé výtvory byly trochu pochybného vkusu, jiným by slušela nějaká výrazná barva atd., ale tehdy lidé toužili po čemkoliv originálním. Ale zpět k náušnicím - velkým plusem drhaných náušnic je, že mohou být velké, ale zároveň nebudou těžké, takže nebude problém je nosit celý den, aniž bych si je musela sundat a schovat je do kabelky, což občas dělám.
Who is my personal muse for this certain trend? Edie Sedgwick. An IT girl who used to work with Andy Warhol, someone I look up to style wise, unfortunately her demise came too soon and was tragic. Her trademark outfit was a minidress and huge earrings. They looked really great on her especially in the time when she had short hair.
A kdo je mou osobní múzou, když přijde na tento trend? Edie Sedgwick. IT girl, která spolupracovala s Andym Warholem. Obdivuji její styl, bohužel zemřela příliš brzy a tragicky. Byly pro ni typické minišaty a velké náušnice, které vypadaly ještě lépe, když nosila krátké vlasy.

Not for me. There was a character in a soap opera here called Pat Butcher and she wore these huge things on her ears. My friend wore them for a few year in 6th form and uni and we used to tease her about her Pat Butcher earrings. She's grown out of that phase now
