Wilhelmshöhe park in Kassel, Germany

In this travel blog post I would like to show you the landscape park Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel, Germany. It is pretty huge and also blending with the forests surrounding it, which makes it even bigger, and built on a hillside. We went from the top of the staircase, where a huge statue of Herkules stands. When you are standing in front of the castle on the bottom the statue seems tiny, it is so far away. When we made it to the bottom of the staircase, I have to admit that my legs felt shaky, like a jelly, it was really a lot of stairs. We had bad luck, because the fountains are working only on some weekdays and we were there on the "dry" day. It was still stunning sight though. From the bottom of the staircase you can choose your way through the woods to the main castle and walk to one of many small buildings located there (Devil´s bridge, Löwenburg, Pagoda, ...). I was imagining the aristocrats of the past in their complicated garments wlaking up and down the staicase, but at the same time I know that they probably rode around it on horses or in a carriage. It was a funny thought.

V tomto cestopisném blogovém příspěvku bych vám chtěla ukázat anglický park Wilhelmshöhe v Kasselu, v Německu. Je dost velký a navíc se prolíná s lesy v okolí, což jej ještě více zvětšuje. Celý je vybudován na kopci. Zvolili jsme cestu shora dolů po schodišti. Úplně nahoře se nachází socha Herkula. Když pak stojíte dole u zámku, zdá se Herkulova socha maličká, protože je docela daleko. Když jsme sešli po schodišti dolů, musím přiznat, že se mi docela třásly nohy, jakokdyby byly ze želé, tolik schodů to je! Měli jsme trochu smůlu, protože fontány jsou zapnuté jen některé dny v týdnu a zrovna jsme tam byli v "suchý" den. Od spodního konce schodiště se můžete vydat po jedné z cestiček lesem k hlavnímu zámku a dojít k jedné z mnoha stavbiček v lesoparku (Ďáblův most, Löwenburg, Pagoda, ...). Představovala jsem si, jak aristokraté z dob minulých chodili po tomto obrovském schodišti nahoru a dolů ve svém komplikovaném oblečení, ale je mi jasné, že spíše po okolí jezdili na koni nebo v kočáře. Ta představa mi však připadala vtipná.
