Trend spotting winter 2017: chequered blanket shawl

The unusually cold weather probably started a trend here in the Czech Republic. I am noticing more and more women cuddled into huge square blanket-like scarves with square pattern. When unwrapped this scarf can be also used as small/medium sized blanket for example at school or work for those who get chilly easily. I believe that without this extreme (for us) weather these scarves that were probably obtained during the Christmas season – for many as presents – they would be stored in wardrobes soon waiting for another few cold days. But since the cold days are a bit more persistent this year these scarves had the chance to be worn more and create a trend. If I hadn´t tons of various scarves already I´d bend too and buy myself one too.

Nezvykle chladné počasí v České republice začalo nový trend. Všimla jsem si, že stále více žen nosí velkou čtvercovou dekoidní šálu se vzorem kostek. Když se tato šála rozloží, může posloužit jako menší deka třeba ve škole  nebo v práci pro ty zimomřivější. Myslím si, že bez tohoto (pro nás) extrémního počasí, by tyto šály, pravděpodobně nakoupené v čase Vánoc a pro mnohé získané darem, skončily brzy v šatníku a čekaly na těch několik málo chladných dní. Jelikož však u nás zima i nadále trvá, dostaly šály šanci, jsou nošeny a stávají se trendem. Kdybych už neměla sbírku různých šál a šátků, pak bych se přidala k davu a též si jednu pořídila.
