Recently I have discovered this amazing BBC series called A Stitch in Time. The series is hosted by a super stylish host Amber Butchart. In each episode she picks a famous look from the past and explains it and then it is recreated by the team of very skilled seamstresses who use period techniques. I stumbled upon this series when researching the Chemise á la Reine - the (in)famous Marie Antoinette white muslin gown, that I want to recreate too.

Nedávno jsem objevila skvělý seriál BBC nazvaný A Stitch in Time. Seriál uvádí stylová moderátorka Amber Butchart. Jednotlivé epizody se věnují nějakému ikonickému oděvu, jehož pozadí je vysvětleno, a pak jej znovu realizuje tým talentovaných švadlen, které používají dobové postupy. Na seriál jsem narazila, když jsem hledala informace o proslulé Chemise á la Reine - ikonických bílých šatech z mušelínu Marie Antoinetty, které si chci také někdy ušít.

I want to recommend a gorgeous book Oldřich Rosenbaum / Oldric Royce by H. V. Kurtz and E. Uchalová that is about a popular Czech couturier that created a number of beautiful gowns for his clients in Czechia and later on in the USA when he had to emigrate because of the occupation of the Czech Republic and the anti-Jewish politics during WW2. The book is not only packed with information about Rosenbaum and about the society, but also with photos of his beautiful designs.

Ráda bych doporučila knihu Oldřich Rosenbaum / Oldric Royce od H. V. Kurtze a E. Uchalové o slavném českém návrháři, který vytvořil mnoho krásných oděvů pro svou českou klientelu a později i pro klientelu v USA, kam musel emigrovat kvůli okupaci ČR a protižidovské politice během druhé světové války. Kniha je plná informací o Rosenbaumovi, společnosti a jsou v ní i fotografie jeho úžasné tvorby.

I have enjoyed the exhibition in the Dancing House Gallery in Praha called Kája Saudek: The king of the Czech comics. I always enjoyed his style and the jokes in his art and I would love to learn how to draw like him. For me Kája Saudek and his art are legends.

Výstava Kája Saudek: Od aut po ženy v Tančícím domě v Praze se mi moc líbila. Jeho tvorbu mám ráda a líbí se mi i vtip, se kterými Saudek kreslil. Ráda bych se jednou naučila kreslit jako on. Pro mě je Kája Saudek a jeho umění prostě legendou.

The other day my boyfriend brought home a CD with a few songs of Jacques Dutronc and this allowed me to discover another great singer :)

Tuhle můj přítel přinesl domů CDčko s pár písněmi od Jacquese Dutronca a já tak objevila dalšího skvělého umělce :)
