Recently I listened to an older interview with a Czech blogger Tereza Salte who knows a lot about Czech blogosphere but also Skandinavian blogosphere, because she lived in Norway and blogged there. Tereza often says in interviews that the Czech bloggers are about three years behind the Skandinavian ones.
When she started to talk about the frequency of blogposting I was intrigued. My personal goal is to post every day, but currently once every two or three days is more manageable for me. This is why I was at first pleased when she started to say that the Scandinavian blogs are a bit more advanced and that they publish three to five blogs a... I immediately threw there the word "week" and felt quite satisfied with myself (also I know that this is the average number of blogposts a week of many bloggers, some publish even less and are more active on Instagram)... but then she said the word "day". And my jaw dropped. Wow. What are they blogging about? I need to investigate... I know it is possible to publish daily, if you plan it in advance, I even tried it last December during Blogmas (yes, it was not 100 %, because life happens... but I was really close. I even managed to continue this for some time after the Christmas Eve.) But right after that I remembered the British blogger Susie Lau of Style Bubble, that, when I followed her, really published multiple times a day, and that this was the reason why I had to unfollow her. I followed quite a lot of blogs on Bloglovin, but those blogs did not publish that often and my feed was full of Susie. Not that she didn´t blog well, but I was overwhelmed by it. So from my point of view blogging multiple times a day is too much. Maybe one blog for breakfast and one before going to bed?
Možná si ublognout ráno k snídani a pak večer před spaním?
Twice a week is fine. I don't understand the mania for blogging every minute. That's what Instagram is for
ReplyDeleteI can kinda understand it when it is a team of people, but then it is not a personal blog anymore. That´s what blogs of Blonde Salad or Garance Doré turned into and for me it lost its charisma. I cannot imagine a single person being able to pull this off longterm. But I really need to investigate, maybe I will learn something :D
DeleteThis is an interesting questions. Blogging multiple times a day does sound like too much but it might not be if the audience is right. Blogs that provide information that doesn't exist anywhere else or those that cover a wide range of subjects- I definitely see how their can benefit from blogging multiply times at day. I remember reading an article about this that said that most blogs did blog multiply times in the past but that now it is better not to blog that often. I think it all depends on what kind of following do we have. For some people, multiply posts of day can get overwhelming and they could unfollow us for them. So, I'm not sure what I should advise. I think that every blogger needs to get to know his audience.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see an advantage in highering the chances that the blog will be found, you know - the more entries you have, the higher the chance. Such a blog would also pop up more often on blog aggregator pages like Bloglovin. Maybe even the google algorithms might like the fact that a website is often updated. But I cannot imagine that one person would pull this off longterm, I think they must get burnt out at some point. Or share stuff that would be more fitting for an occasional post on social media.
DeleteIt might actually be an interesting concept to concentrate everything on the blog, no social media involved, it would be like entering someone´s living room and the content would not be spread across x places. But then again, the social media draws a lot of traffic, so not that sustainable if such blogger wants to grow audience.
