The changes of the world around us

I thought that it will take more years to me to be able to say that I see significant changes in the landscape around me. Something like - I will be a granny and will be remembering with nostalgia how places looked different. My first encounter with a changed landscape was quite shocking. After fifteen years I returned to Dreisessel and I had a hard time to recognize the place. I had a feeling that the ridge used to be a forest. I had to revisit old family photoalbums to confirm my assumption. It really was - in 2003. In year 2017 it was mostly dead trees and only bushes. Here and there you were able to see a tiny tree. In 2018 I had to return to take a few pictures that would compare the current state and the past. In this case bark beetles are to be blamed for this catastrophy and that people let them do their thing = destroy the forests.

Myslela jsem si, že to bude trvat mnohem více let, abych si všimla nějaké velké změny v krajině kolem mě. Třeba, že budu stará babka a budu vzpomínat s nostalgií, jak to kde vypadalo. Mé první takové prozření bylo celkem šokující. Po patnácti letech jsem se vydala na túru na Třístoličník a nějak jsem to tam nepoznávala. Měla jsem pocit, že hřeben byl zalesněný. Po návratu jsem tedy vylovila stará rodinná alba a svou domněnku jsem si potvrdila. V roce 2003 zde byly stromy. V roce 2017 zde byly hlavně mrtvé stromy, keře a sem tam menší stromeček. V roce 2018 jsem se sem vydala znovu, abych tuto proměnu zdokumentovala a porovnala se starými fotkami. V tomto případě je za zničení lesa zodpovědný kůrovec a také to, že jej lidé nechali vykonat své dílo = zničit les.

2003 versus 2018

The second documented example is very fresh and comes with a bit of sadness to me. The photos below compare the same place just few months ago and now. I knew that a highway will be constructed at this place, it was planned for years. However there was a beautiful field of red poppies and blue cornflowers. It was not a protected nature reserve, but it was pretty. Locals went there for walks and to take photos. I have visited it a few times this year when the flowers were in bloom and met a few other photographers there. Well, it looks like this summer was the last time this was possible:

Mým druhým zdokumentovaným příkladem je celkem čerstvý zážitek, který ve mě trochu vyvolává smutek. Věděla jsem, že na tomto místě se bude stavět obchvat, plánuje se to již léta. Zároveň ale na tomto místě byly krásné červené vlčí máky a modré chrpy. Nebyla to nějaká chráněná oblast, ale bylo to hezké. Místní lidé sem chodili na procházky a fotit se. Letos jsem sem párkrát vyrazila fotit a potkala jsem tu i další fotografy. No, vypadá to, že letošní léto byla poslední šance:
