When I googled for the first time the keywords "Pantone colour of year 2021" back in December 2020, the google results gave me answer: "Ultimate gray" (17-5104).
Když jsem v prosinci 2020 prvně googlila klíčová slova "Pantone colour of year 2021" (= barva roku 2021 Pantone), dostala jsem odpověď - Ultimate gray (= šedá) (17-5104).
So, just in case you weren´t depressed enough already from the lockdowns and pandemic and incompetence of the most of the governments to handle it in 2020, the Pantone picked Ultimate Gray colour for the year 2021. Don´t get me wrong - gray is a nice colour, I wear it as a neutral in my outfits, the floors at my home are gray, but do we really need to establish gray as a colour of the whole year? As the fashionable colour for everything? Do we really have to dwell in this depression in year 2021 too? No light at the end of this pandemic tunnel with new Covid mutations being found every fortnight?
Takže, kdybyste náhodou ještě nebyli v depce z lockdownů a pandemie a neschopnosti většiny vlád tuto situaci efektivně řešit během roku 2020, Pantone vám vybralo šedou barvu i pro rok 2021. Nechápejte mě špatně - šedá je fajn barva, nosím ji jako neutrální barvu ve svých outfitech, podlahy v mém bytě jsou šedivé, ale opravdu se potřebujeme v téhle depce nimrat i v roce 2021 a předem říct, že celý tento rok bude šedivý? Že šedivá nás obklopí ze všech stran? Žádné světlo na konci tohoto pandemického tunelu, kdy se dozvídáme o nové mutaci Covidu každých čtrnáct dní?
Months later (now) I checked again, since I wanted to write this rant blog post and realized, that the top google results weren´t that precise back then. They focused on the depressive, "negative" part - the gray; now I found out that Pantone picked a complimentary colour to our ultimate gray era, a silver lining to this gray cloud - Illuminating yellow (13-0647) <3 this revelation has left a smile on my face.
O několik měsíců později (teď) jsem se na to podívala znovu, když jsem se chystala napsat tento článek na blog plný stížností a zjistila jsem, že prosincové výsledky vyhledávání na Googlu na první straně nebyly úplně přesné. Soustředily se na tu depresivní, "negativní" část - na šedivou; dnes jsem zjistila, že Pantone k té šedivce vybral i druhou, doplňující barvu, ty paprsky zářící zpoza šedivého mraku - Illuminating yellow (= rozjasňující žlutou) (13-0647) <3 toto zjištění mi vytvořilo úsměv na tváři.
