7 Simple tricks for better skin

In this article I want to talk about our skin, the most important „outfit“ of ours (yes, this sounds a bit creepy :D). I think it already happened to everyone – we were looking longingly on the perfect skin of a model in a glossy magazine and were wishing to have evenly pretty skin. Those of us who are able to see through the (false) advertising know that these pictures go through postproduction (especially if the photos are for a beauty product) which removes little blemishes or scars and creates the look of perfect skin. We are then green with jelly and sometimes even depressed that we don´t have such perfect skin which makes us buy new products. You can read more about this viscious circle of beauty ads in one of my posts. The following tips are the basics that can make a difference:

1) Be sure to protect your skin from the sun. Excessive sunbathing will make your skin older, also freckles can appear if you expose yourself to sun without a protection. And getting sunburnt is not pleasant at all. My first aid when it happens – usually in September when I go on a walk and am surprised by nice weather and am not protected with cream with filter – is Panthenol body lotion that I keep in a fridge for these occurences.
1) Chraňte svou kůži před sluncem. Přílišné slunění vede k předčasnému stárnutí pleti a tvorbě pih, zejména pokud nepoužíváte krém s faktorem.

2) Another great helper is a hat. When it is really hot and sunny during the summer and I intend to spend more time outside I wear a hat with a broad brimm. The brimm shades my face and neck but also my eyes so I don´t need sunglasses. I don´t know why but sometimes when it is sunny I don´t like to wear sunglasses since they give me a headache. Does this happen to you too?
2) Dalším skvělým pomocníkem je klobouk. Když je opravdu hodně horko a slunečno a já se chystám pobývat venku delší čas, beru si klobouk s širší krempou. Krempa mi stíní obličej a krk, ale též mé oči, talže nepotřebuji sluneční brýle. Nevím proč, ale občas mi sluneční brýle způsobují bolehlav. Stává se vám to někdy také?

3) Have you ever felt like dropping in your bed at the end of the day not wanting to do anything because of exhaustion? Well, don´t! Be nice to your skin and remove the make-up. Wash your face even if you did not wear make-up because dust can linger on your skin and clog your pores. Don´t forget that when sleeping your skin is resting too and restoring itself. Going to bed with clean skin will help you keep it nice.
Nedělejte to!

4) How often do you use peeling? Did you know that peeling your skin too often may also be harmful? Once a week is more that enough. Although it is good to get rid of the dead skin cells that might clog your pores, peeling the skin will constantly keep it „raw“. Also in very sunny periods of the year you should use peeling even more scarcely because the peeling will get your skin rid off the natural protection. This is the reason why celebrities after chemical peelings etc. don´t go outside (not only the skin does not look good but it could also be harmful to expose it to the sun).

5) Drink more water! You have heard this advice in like EVERY article ever about skin and beauty and I will repeat it once again for you. In case you already keep a healthy drinking regime then you obviously don´t need to drink liquids even more, just keep doing what you do. The rest of us – yes, I am guilty of this too – should pay more attention the the amount of liquids we intake. There are already some gadgets that can help you with it. You can have a bottle that will help you keep up with the amount you drank, you can also have an app on your mobile that will remind you to drink.
5) Pijte více více vody! Tuhle radu jste četli asi v KAŽDÉM článku o pleti a kráse a já ji zopakuji ještě jednou. My ostatní – ano, i já – bychom měli věnovat více pozornosti tomu, kolik čeho během dne vypijeme. Pomoci vám mohou různé vychytávky. Můžete používat láhev určitého objemu, díky níž budete sledovat, kolik jste toho během dne vypili nebo si můžete stáhnout aplikaci do mobilu, která vám bude připomínat, abyste se napili.

6) Find a good dermatologist that will help you solve your skin problems. This can be quite challenging – how do you find out if this dermatologist is good? Some dermatologists might force you into procedures or into buying their expensive products to cash in. This is a lot about your gut feelings and the results, you can also try to find some reviews online, but if a dermatologist is forcing you to buy his/her expensive product it might be a red flag. Remember that even really cheap products can do the same job.

7) Don´t touch! And I am really guilty of this one. Have you ever caught yourself scratching your face when thinking over something? By touching your face during the day you transfer the dirt and even bacteria from your hands on your face. The impurities then do the job on your face and you cannot be surprised when acne appears.
7) Nesahat!

Bonus tip: This one is a bit connected to nr. 7: Be sure to clean your phone often. If you touch your cheek with your phone when talking to someone, you once again transfer the bacteria from the phone on your face.

  1. These are great tips! My mom taught me # 7 - don't touch when I was a little girl. I never put my chin in my hand and lean on it. I try to never scratch, either. If I must, I'll grab a tissue and lightly use that as a buffer to gently touch my face. Also, everyone needs more water, IMO! Great article! :-) - (I'm Elizabeth at zestyolive.com)
